With the holidays quickly approaching, life tends to become a bit hectic. We feel pulled in a million directions which takes us further away from our own center. When we make the time for us, we show up better for all of those we come in contact with on our daily lives. Here are a few simple tips for staying centered in your own inner peace during the next few weeks and into the next year.
Carve out you time- This time of year there are events and opportunities to connect almost all of the time. Choose wisely and select those things that are most important to you, and give yourself permission to miss the rest. This is good general practice in daily life. When you do this, you send yourself a clear message that you care about your well being.
Self Care is Key- In general, it has been my observation that the first thing to go is usually the time we make for ourselves. Even though life might be busier right now, it is more important than ever to create time for you. Find one simple thing that you love that you can do once a day. Some great examples are taking a walk in nature, making your regular yoga class, meditating, taking an epsom salt bath, finding time for a nap, or journaling. Take care of you first and foremost!
Breathe!- The quickest way to bring your awareness to the present moment is by focusing on the breath. Put a reminder on your calendar to breathe! Consider this an awareness state check. Stop whatever you are doing and check in. Notice what quality you could use more of, is it energy, peace, calm? For the next 5 breaths, breathe in that quality, on your exhales, rest in the quality. It’s also a great idea to take a deep breath before responding to challenging people or to help you calm the monkey mind as you lie in bed at night trying to sleep.
Center in your Own Inner Peace- It is very easy to fall into old patterns of conditioning and operating this time of year. When we take the time to show up for ourselves, we shine brighter into the world. No matter what is going on around you, you can show up as that most pure glowing presence. Take a moment every day to close your eyes and to connect with you beyond your stories and attachments. Breathe into your heart space and deeply immerse in that pure loving light at your very center. When we show up as a bright light, we ignite the light in those around us; Their light recognizes and remembers how to glow and the entire world glows brighter for it.
No matter what this season brings, be easy and kind with you. Love yourself no matter what.
I honor and see that beautiful divine light that resides within you, that is the same diving light that resides within me.
